iExit version 1.1 has officially made it through Apple’s approval process and is now available for download in the App Store. It is priced at $2.99, but is a free upgrade to existing customers.

Most of the changes in version 1.1 center around knowing exactly where points of interest are located, both on a map and relative to the interstate. Affected views in version 1.1 include:

The Map View: As seen in the screen shot, points of interest are now plotted on the Google Map along with interstate exits. This helps ensure users can find what they’re looking for.

The Detailed Exit View: The view that shows all the points of interest at an exit now contains location information for each point of interest. Know the distance and cardinal direction each point of interest is relative to the interstate, and know whether it’s left or right off the interstate based on your driving orientation.

Check it iExit version 1.1 and please let us know what you would like to see in version 1.2.

Atlanta, GA – January 28, 2010 – iExit, the popular iPhone app that finds your favorite locations at upcoming interstate exits, is about to get even better. AllStays.com, travel website and iExit owner, has announced that a major update to iExit is due to arrive in Apple’s App Store as soon as it makes it through Apple’s approval process.

iExit works by using the iPhone’s GPS device to determine if a user is on the interstate, and if so, what direction. It then allows users to see not only what’s at upcoming exits, but also at what exits the user’s favorite locations can be found. It also allows users to send feedback directly to the developers from within iExit.

“We’ve been getting a lot of feedback from our early adopters and we’ve been listening,” says Adam Longfellow, owner of AllStays.com. “We took the most common complaints and made those our priority for this next update. We think our customers are going to be very happy.”

The features Longfellow is referring to center around knowing exactly where each point of interest is relative to the interstate exit it belongs. iExit 1.0 would only inform users that, for example, a Starbucks exists within one mile of an exit. iExit 1.1 now informs users that the Starbucks is 0.24 miles due north of the exit, and depending on the user’s driving direction, whether it’s left or right off the interstate. To make things even easier, individual points of interest are now plotted on a Google map for easy viewing.

“We’ve worked really hard to build iExit from the user’s perspective,” explains Evan Metrock, president of Metrocket and head developer of iExit. “With version 1.0, before we could directly interact with users, it was on us to figure out what users find most important and how to deliver it to them effectively. Now that iExit is out in the public and users are engaging in its feedback mechanism, we no longer have to guess what users like and dislilke. It’s great.”

iExit version 1.1 is a free upgrade to existing customers. iExit is available for download in the United States App Store for a limited time price of $2.99.

iExit version 1.1 is already well underway and is close to being ready for the App Store. If Apple’s approval process is just as fast as it was with version 1.0, it could be in the App Store as early as next week.

We’ve received lots of good feedback from early adopters and have used that feedback to prioritize features for version 1.1. Below are the main features you’ll find in the next update.

Points of interest will now be visible in the Map View

Updated views that display relative directions and distances for points of interest from exits. For example, you’ll know a Walmart is 0.2 miles North of exit 182, which depending on your driving direction might be left or right.

Lots of new and updated POI data.

There will be a lot more information to follow regarding iExit 1.1, so be sure to check back soon!

Atlanta, GA – January 5, 2010 – Have you ever gotten off an interstate exit only to later realize a better one was a few miles down the road? If so, there’s now an iPhone app that makes sure that never happens again. Travel website Allstays.com, in partnership with Atlanta-based software company Metrocket, has created iExit, a interstate-based travel guide iPhone app.

iExit informs users which points of interest are coming up when driving on interstates in the continental United States. Using the iPhone’s location, iExit determines what points of interest are coming up soon and displays them in several user-friendly formats. Users can see all upcoming exits in either a list view or map view, or they can see only those points of interest they select as their “favorites.”

“I personally like knowing where the next Chick-fil-a is when I’m on the interstate,” says Metrocket founder, Evan Metrock. “iExit is designed to give me this information within seconds of loading up without a press of a button.” iExit stores its data locally on the iPhone, meaning it works even when the phone has no AT&T service. It also supports an offline mode that allows users to lookup points of interest at any exit on any interstate.

AllStays.com, the owner and data supplier of iExit, has been supplying travelers across the United States with high quality point of interest data for the past 10 years. “We are always looking for better ways to deliver our data to our customers,” explains Adam Longfellow, founder of Allstays.com. “We’ve had a mobile version of Allstays.com for years, making it easier for users to access our data from the road. Because of the iPhone’s location capabilities, we now have the ability to deliver precisely what users want to know at both their current and future locations.”

iExit is not yet available in Apple’s App Store, but is expected to be approved by Apple by the end of January, 2010. It will eventually be priced at $4.99, but for a limited introductory time, it will be priced at $2.99.

Atlanta, GA – November 12, 2009 - Have you ever missed a concert by a favorite band because you didn’t know they were in town? If so, there’s now an iPhone app that helps solve that problem. Atlanta-based software company, Metrocket, has partnered with worldwide music publication, Pollstar, to produce a free local concert application called Live Music.

Live Music informs users of upcoming local music acts and provides ticket information when available. It automatically uses the iPhone’s current location, but supports any location the user enters. It displays upcoming concerts in a number of easy-to-understand formats, and allows users to share concerts easily via email. The most custom feature is the app’s ability to filter upcoming concerts by the artists found in the iPhone’s music library. “For any big city, there can be hundreds, even thousands of upcoming concerts,” explains Evan Metrock, founder of Metrocket. “By incorporating the user’s music library into Live Music, we help ensure a user doesn’t accidentally overlook an upcoming show by a favorite artist.”

Live Music pulls its concert data from Pollstar, the worldwide concert industry’s trade publication of record. Pollstar has been providing live music fans with the same high quality concert data it supplies professional promoters and agents via its free website, Pollstar.com, since 1994. “Live Music provides us a great, new way to deliver our concert data to our users,” says Gary Bongiovanni, CEO of Pollstar. Adds Metrock, “I’ve been using Pollstar.com for years to figure out what acts are coming to town, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to say Live Music is the only iPhone app powered by Pollstar data.”

Live Music is available for free in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom. Metrocket is available for contract work, and invites businesses and individuals to contact the company to discuss potential software development.

The first update to Live Music has been submitted to Apple and is expected to be in the App Store sometime next week. I wanted to give everyone a sneak preview of what to expect in version 1.1.

Improvements in the update include:

Filter local concerts by the artists in your iPhone’s music library

Improved user experience by displaying concerts as they are processed, instead of waiting until all concerts have been processed.

Change your search location without having to wait until the current location is finished.

Search for local concerts by Artist Name

Several infrastructure improvements

Several UI Improvements

Advertising incorporated to certain views (gotta make a living somehow!)

Between the ability to display concerts as they’re being processed and the ability to change locations in the middle of a data-pull, waiting times are significantly decreased from version 1.0. Despite how useful as the iPod music sync feature is, I think I’m most proud of this increase in efficiency.

If you have any comments or questions about Live Music and would like some answers, please send me an email or leave a comment here as I obviously can’t reply to reviews in the App Store. Thanks for reading and I’ll be sure to update the site when Live Music v1.1 hits the App Store.

Live music has officially been approved and is now available for download in Apple’s App Store. If you search for the phrase “live music” it is about the 20th result down the page. Clearly we intend the app to rise up the ranks, especially once Pollstar starts promoting it on their website, but until then, we’ll take it!

The first update is nearing completion so be sure to check back soon for what to expect in Live Music 1.1. Hope you enjoy the app!

Live Music is a music application that automatically shows what concerts and events are going on in your area. It uses either your GPS location or a specified location and delivers a large collection of events in an easy-to-understand format. Once you’ve found a concert, you can email it to a friend or even buy tickets right then and there.

Live Music partners with Pollstar.com, The Concert Hotwire, for all of its event data. Pollstar maintains a massive database of events that span multiple countries. Pollstar partners with Ticketmaster and Live Nation, making purchasing tickets all the easier for you. Whether you’re looking for the biggest acts of the year or looking for who’s playing down the street tonight, Live Music is a perfect app for you.

That’s about it for the introduction. Even though the app has yet to hit the marketplace, we are hard at work on the first update. We’ll be posting much more about the app in the near future, so be sure to check back for all the latest news.

Thanks,
